Get To Know Yourself With These 50 Self-Discovery Journal Prompts

Self-discovery journal prompts are a great way to reflect and get to know yourself a little bit better.

Journaling will help lay out all of your thoughts and emotions, organize them, connect ideas, and begin to understand what’s going on in your head. When we journal and ask ourselves questions, we have the opportunity to truly understand ourselves.

These questions aren’t written in any particular order, so tackle them whatever way your heart desires!

1.  Who are the 3 people you love most in this world?

2.  What is your definition of success? How would your life look if you were “successful”?

3.  What do you like the most about yourself?

4.  When I think of happiness, what is the first thing that comes to mind? List 10 more things that make you happy.

5.  What are 5 things you are grateful for? Why?

6.  What are your professional goals?

7.  What are 3 qualities you look for in a person?

8.  What are 3 habits that you would like to quit and 3 habits that you would like to form?

9.  Name 3 places you want to visit and why.

10.  What is your favorite childhood memory?

11.  What are 3 things you want to achieve in life?

12.  Money is no objective or concern. How would you live your day-to-day life?

13.  Is the job you are currently working helping you feel fulfilled? Do you feel excited to go back to work tomorrow? Is there a different job you wish you could be doing instead?

14.  How often do you feel anxious? What are the causes or triggers of your anxiety? Are there ways you can avoid, eliminate, or reduce these triggers?

15.  What is your ultimate dream? Are you currently living it? If not, are there actionable steps you can take to make your dreams a reality?

16.  What is one thing you do that never fails to make you feel joy and happiness? Do you do it every day? If not, why? If it brings you immense joy, then figure out an action plan to include it in your every day life.

17.  How do you manage stress in your life? Are these healthy or unhealthy ways? Decide 5 healthy ways to manage your stress.

18.  What do you do for fun? Is it something you are doing every day why or why not? Write down 5 ways you can add something fun into your everyday routine.

19.  What is something you feel like you can do really well?

20.  What is the best moment in your life so far? Why?

21.  Do you consider yourself living a healthy lifestyle? Are there changes you could make to make it healthier?

22.  What is your biggest fear in life? Why? What could you do to conquer that fear?

23.  Is there something you want to change about yourself? Why?

24.  What do you want to be remembered for? What do you think your legacy would be currently?

25.  If you could go back in time, what would you tell your younger self? What age would you go back to? Why?

26.  Where do you want to see yourself in 1 year? Are you taking steps every day to get to that vision? Create a plan with action steps to get you to your goal.

27.  What are your top 3 goals you would like to achieve this year? Where are you currently at on your progress with achieving them? Is there more you could be doing?

28.  Write down 5 words that represent YOU. Why did you choose these words? How do they make you feel?

29.  What are your morals and values? Why have you chosen these as your values? Do you feel you hold to your values in every situation?

30.  Do you believe you make good choices? What are your influences for your choices? Do you think you make choices based on emotions, values or logic?

31.  What, or who, inspires you? Do you feel inspired daily?

32.  How do you feel about money? Are your feelings positive or negative? Do you have a positive mindset towards money? Do you feel like you have enough money? Why or why not? Can you do something to bring more money into your life?

33.  Do you think you are a positive or negative person? Why do you think you lean that way? Can you make changes to your mindset to be more positive?

34.  What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning? Do you have things to look forward to?

35.  Do you feel confident in yourself? Be honest. Is there something you can do to feel more confident?

36.  What are your strengths? Are you utilizing them on a regular basis?

37.  What is your biggest regret in your life? Why do you regret it? Have you made sure you won’t make the same mistake again?

38.  Do you have time to yourself every single day? What do you do during that time?

39.  How often do you say ‘yes’ to something when you really want to say ‘no’? Why do you say ‘yes’?

40.  What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given? Why is it the best? How has this piece of advice impacted your life?

41.  What is your proudest accomplishment? Why?

42.  Are you genuinely happy with your current life? Is there something you can change to make it better?

43.  Finish this sentence. “If only I could…” Why did you choose this sentence? Is there something you could do make it a reality?

44.  What do you need to forgive yourself for? It’s okay to move on.

45.  What do you need to forgive someone else for? (Reminder: Forgiveness is for you, not them.)

46.  What is the biggest lesson that you learned from your past? How has it impacted your life?

47.  Have you set boundaries for yourself? What are the boundaries? Do you have boundaries for your work, your relationships, and your daily life?

48.  What is something new you want to try? Why haven’t you tried it yet? Is fear in your way? How can you get rid of the fear?

49.  What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail? How can you make it a reality? What actionable steps could you take?
